1st Annual Golf Outing for HSVS

We're so excited to be hosting a golf outing this spring!

On Thursday, June 1st we'll be taking over the Rockaway Hunting Club for a day of straight drives, escapes from the bunker and some fun-all in the name of HeartShare St. Vincent's! We hope that you'll be able to come out and raise money so that we can continue to serve our community and expand our mission.

The Rockaway Hunting Club is an incredible setting and we're so grateful that we can host our very first outing here. The club holds a storied history (much like HSVS)-technically holding the crown for the oldest golf club in the United States.

A 10:30 breakfast will be followed by a shotgun start at noon.
The day will close with putting games, cocktails at 5, and dinner at 6.

For the last 150 years, HeartShare St. Vincent's Services (HSVS) has been a symbol of hope, compassion, and strength for vulnerable communities in New York City. Today, we provide a continuum of services to over 6,000 children, youth, and families, helping them to heal, connect, and thrive. HSVS has a mission to nurture and support, with dignity and respect, children, adults and families in order to expand opportunities and enhance lives.

At our core, we have remained a child caring agency, dedicated to serving youth in foster care who face staggering challenges. As their guardians, it is our responsibility to ensure they succeed. Youth in foster care are less likely to complete high school by age 21, less likely to enroll in college, and less likely to obtain a bachelor's degree than the general population. Youth in foster care are disproportionally Black, Latinx, and LGBTQAI and most come from communities with poor performing schools and lack of public and private resources.

These outcomes and disparities are unacceptable, and we are committed to helping our young people achieve their own versions of success, through long-term emotional support and access to quality education, stable housing and career level employment. Nationally, only 4% students in foster care graduate from college. Our American Dream Program is flipping this statistic on its head. 47% of college-aged students in foster care with HSVS are enrolled in college or vocational programs, with a persistence rate of 82%.

We are now turning our attention to post-college outcomes with the launch of our Workforce Immersion Program. Through career exposure, training and immersion, not only will our young people have a shot at upward mobility, but our partners will have the opportunity to create and develop a diverse talent pipeline.
